Authorities are currently investigating a large fire that broke out last night in a residential building located on Elm Street. The blaze started around 11:30 p.m., rapidly spreading through the upper floors of the three-story complex. More than 50 firefighters were dispatched to the scene and were able to bring the fire under control after nearly two hours. Fortunately, no fatalities have been reported, but several residents were treated for smoke inhalation.
Witnesses described hearing a loud bang moments before flames erupted from a second-floor apartment. Investigators are now examining the possibility of an electrical fault or arson as the cause. “At this point, we’re keeping all options open,” said Fire Department spokesperson Jenna Hart. “We’ve collected evidence from the scene and will be reviewing security camera footage.”
The building has been deemed unsafe, and displaced residents are being temporarily housed in a nearby community center.
